What kind of eyeliner for a beginner?

I was looking for something that will last ALL day and that will NOT FRIGGIN smudge.This is two questions actually....

The bobbi brown ones are prone to smudging, the MAC one is great for beginners and moderately priced, the Stila one is also quite nice but too expensive. Another option is to use a thin eyeliner or eyeshadow brush, wet it, then gently press it into an eyeshadow of your choice. This will create a very easy to apply soft eyeliner that looks pretty and natural. If it smudges too much just dip a Q-tip in some makeup remover and clean up the line. Voila!
