RVT wants to start business doing presentations to school-aged children on caring for animals....?
I just graduated from Veterinary Technician School a few months ago and have been working at a clinic and LOVE it. I am also a nanny and have many years of childcare/daycare experience. I love animals and I love kids, and have always wanted to incorperate a job with both fields.
Does anyone know of a way to start a business/organization where I could do presentations with animals to school-aged children on how to care for their pets (Ex: Dental care, nutrition, grooming, vaccines, being responsible, etc.) . I think it would be fun for me as well as the children, and maybe get some future Vet Techs/Veterinarians in the making!
What would be the procedures to start this? I would need to get insurance if I am bringing animals to these presentations, right? I would also need to be licenced (RVT) I am assuming, and I take my test in a few weeks and will hopefully pass with flying colors!
If anyone knows any pointers on how to get started, let me know! Thank you
You are going to need a basic business license as well.

10 Things to Consider How to Choose the Right Permanent Cosmetics Technician
You need to have some solid guidelines to consider when contacting any permanent cosmetic technician. Taking the time to do some valuable research now will save you time, money, heartache and possible problems with your health down the road.
Take time to check out the technician you are considering for your permanent makeup services. Choose your permanent makeup technician carefully by considering their:Experience – Do NOT let a new student work on you Training Certifications/Licensing Insurance Before and after photos of their most recent work Patient references Corrective/Camouflage experience Price (usually too low of a price indicates inexperience) Physician affiliations – The Physician has pre-qualified the technician for you and you are in a safe environment Communication skills – Is the technician a great listener and do they possess the ability to answer all of your questions in a comfortable, non threatening manner.
The information below will help you decide on the right technician for you. You should NEVER shop for price in this matter. This is your face and a bargain price isn't a bargain if the end result is less than beautiful. There are many technicians who have inadequate training as well as limited if any artistic experience and ability. Industry regulations for certification training vary from state to state, so consumers need to educate themselves before deciding on having procedure performed.
Permanent Make up is truly an art, not just a process. Your goal should be to find a permanent makeup artist, not just a technician. Your results will be only as good as the artist you choose and only as safe as the technicians training and experience. You want to find someone who has a good balance with artistic ability as well as professional hands on experience.
You want natural soft cosmetics that enhance your face without being too bold or over done. Color knowledge is one of the most important factors to a quality application of Permanent Cosmetics. Just look at all the conventional cosmetics on the market to see how important color is. You want an artist who understands skin tones and colors that will enhance your face and look classic not trendy since it is permanent. One can always wear conventional makeup in addition to compliment permanent makeup to achieve a trendier look without looking inappropriate for your age as you mature.
Techniques vary for different results so make sure you ask if the artist is capable of giving you the look you want. The quickest way to qualify a technician or artist is to ask them to draw you a set of brows. If they are not natural hair like strokes that look like what you would see in a drawn portrait or picture, then find someone else who can draw beautiful brows on paper for you. You want an artist who can do corrections, alterations and camouflage. Talent and experience makes all the difference, so look for someone who will give you soft, natural results. Take time to check out the artist you are contemplating for services. It is well worth the extra time spent to be assured of quality permanent make up that you can enjoy for years to come. You have to feel comfortable with the technician you choose. Good communication between you and the technician is of utmost importance .
By implementing the 10 point criteria listed above in your search for the right Permanent Cosmetic Technician, your working to ensure that your INVESTMENT IN YOU will bear long lasting, beautiful results.
